My internship started… well actually it started on August 1st, but I seem to have forgotten to post it here. So now a short summary: I work at the Blutzentrale Linz (the link shows the main building, although I work in a lab near the Blumauerplatz), a part of the General Hospital (AKH) and a suborganization of the Red Cross. Because the “big boss” is not here, I was given a small assignment to program a tool to facilitate lab work, and next Monday we will see what exactly my assignments will look like. Although I had estimated the development time for the tool to be slightly less then one month, the current prototype is approximately 80-90% functional. Fine tuning, testing and writing a user manual is all that’s left to do, so I guess that I will be finished at the end of next week. I really hope that this tool will prove useful to the people in the lab.
Yet another funny thing: I was given a computer, and when I requested VS.NET as development environment, I was told by the sysadmin in charge: “We don’t have it, as we usually don’t develop on our own. [Insert some excuses about testing, maintaining etc.]“. So just one question: WTF am I supposed to do here if not develop things? I hope Dr. Gabriel (the big boss
) can sort this out when he returns on monday.
